Air filters are mainly used for intake air purification to remove dust particles from it. In addition, the exhaust gas from certain production processes contains fine pollutants (such as radioactive substances, oil mist, etc.). Although this type of purification falls under exhaust gas purification, air filters are also required due to the high purification standards. An Air Filter refers to an air filtration device, generally used in clean workshops, clean plants, laboratories, clean rooms, or for dust prevention of electronic, mechanical and communication equipment. It is classified into primary filters, medium-efficiency filters, high-efficiency filters and sub-high-efficiency filters and other models. Each model has different standards and performance. This article focuses on the main classifications and characteristics of air filters, as well as the efficiency specification comparison table of primary, medium and high-efficiency filters.
Applications: Used in the filter section of general ventilation air handling equipment or as the primary filtration of fresh air systems.
Characteristics: The filter media can be replaced manually; the paper-frame primary filter is disposable.
2. Pleated Medium-Efficiency Air Filter
Applications: Filtration of ventilation systems, and general air purification in fields such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, machinery and instruments, metallurgy, petroleum, chemical industry, light industry, food, etc.
Characteristics: High efficiency, large dust holding capacity, and small space occupation.
3. Bag-Type Medium-Efficiency Air Filter
Applications: Central air conditioning centralized ventilation systems, or as the pre-filter of high-efficiency filters. It can reduce the load of high-efficiency filters and extend their service life. It can also be used for general air purification in industrial fields.
Characteristics: Low resistance and large dust holding capacity.
Applications: Effectively removes odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), bacteria, viruses and various air pollutants, such as paint spray mist, smoke, common pollutants in electronic factories and museums, as well as odors in food processing plants and hospitals.
Characteristics: Highly developed microporous structure, high adsorption capacity, fast adsorption and desorption speed, and excellent purification effect. A pre-filter must be installed before using the activated carbon filter; otherwise, the efficiency of activated carbon will be reduced due to other pollutants in the air.
5. Sub-High-Efficiency Air Filter
Applications: Terminal filtration of various clean engineering projects, central air conditioning systems with special requirements, process air supply systems, or filtration of clean rooms.
Characteristics: High filtration efficiency, low resistance and large dust holding capacity.
6. High-Efficiency Air Filter (HEPA)
Applications: Clean air conditioning systems and high-cleanliness environments.
Characteristics: High efficiency and low resistance.
7. Aluminum Mesh Panel Air Filter
Applications: Ventilation and air conditioning systems with low air quality requirements, or as primary pre-filtration in places with harsh surrounding environments, high dust and grease content.
Characteristics: Durable and easy to clean.
8. Fan Filter Unit (FFU) with High-Efficiency Filter
Applications: Suitable for sterile operating rooms in hospitals, as well as manufacturing fields such as electronics, biology, pharmaceuticals, food, etc.
Characteristics: Suspended under the floor slab, it can achieve a cleanliness level of Class 10,000 or Class 100,000. It saves machine room space and is suitable for local purification, especially in environments where floors are frequently washed, such as the food industry.
9. High Airflow High-Efficiency Filter
Applications: High-performance terminal filter for air conditioning units.
Characteristics: High filtration efficiency, large air volume and large dust holding capacity.
