1. Clarify the filtration medium
1. Determine the chemical composition, pH value, viscosity, temperature and other properties of the medium, which is the primary basis for selecting the filter element material.
2. Define filtration requirements
Filtration precision: Selected according to the particle size of upstream impurities and the cleanliness requirements of the downstream. It is recommended to confirm through filtration tests.
Flux demand: Determine the required filtration area and the number of filter elements based on the system flow rate, allowable pressure drop and the permeability of the filter elements.
3. Analyze operating conditions
Working pressure and pressure difference: Ensure the mechanical strength of the filter element can meet the maximum working pressure and allowable pressure difference of the system.
Working temperature: The applicable temperature range of the selected material must fully cover the process temperature.
4. Consider installation and maintenance
Dimensions and interfaces: Select the appropriate filter element length and outer diameter according to the size of the filter housing, and match the interface type (e.g. thread).
Cleaning method: If online backwashing is planned, filter elements with high strength and stable pore structure shall be selected.
1. Pre-treatment of new filter elements: It is recommended to clean new filter elements before use to remove any particles that may remain during production and transportation.
2. Correct installation direction: Ensure the filter element is installed in the correct direction (normally in from the outside, out from the inside), and check that the sealing ring is intact and properly installed to prevent short circuit.
3. Pressure difference monitoring: Closely monitor the inlet and outlet pressure difference during operation. Clean or replace the filter element in a timely manner when the pressure difference reaches the critical value specified by the equipment (usually 0.2-0.3MPa), to avoid crushing damage to the filter element caused by excessively high pressure difference.
