What Are The Differences in Replacement Cycle Times for Different Filter Elements?

The filter core of a water purifier is a consumable item.  After a period of use, it needs to be replaced to maintain healthy water quality.  However, the replacement cycle of different filter cartridges.  Today, we will explain this in more detail.

PP cotton filter cartridge

This is the water purifier's first line of defence, capable of filtering out large impurities, such as sand and rust. It usually needs to be replaced every three to six months.

Activated carbon filter cartridge

This filter is mainly used to absorb discolouration, odour and residual chlorine in water. It needs to be replaced every 6 to 12 months.

Ceramic filter element

It filters out bacteria and microorganisms, and it should be replaced every 6 to 12 months.

Ultrafiltration membrane filter element

This filter element can remove bacteria, viruses and large-molecule organic substances from water.  It is appropriate to replace it every one to two years.

RO reverse osmosis filter element

RO reverse osmosis filter cartridges are the core filter cartridges of water purifiers.   They feature high filtration accuracy and can remove tiny substances such as heavy metals, bacteria and viruses.   It is recommended that they are replaced every 3 to 5 years.

KDF filter element

This filter can remove residual chlorine and heavy metals, and is generally replaced every one to two years.

However, please note that these replacement cycles are only approximate.   The exact cycles should be determined based on your home's water quality, water consumption, and how often you use the water purifier.

If you notice a deterioration in the taste of the water and a decrease in the water output, it is likely that the filter element needs replacing!
